How exactly does flat-rate pricing work with you?
Once we walk the home with you, on site or over video, you get a written flat rate listing the crew assigned, the truck, and a single total. That figure holds on move day, so there is no meter running and no shock at the end. If you would rather go hourly, a two-mover crew with a truck is $135 an hour and a three-mover crew is $190 an hour. Local flat bands run from $390 to $560 for a studio up to $2,460 to $3,640 for a four-bedroom house.
Do you take a deposit, and is it an extra charge?
A $125 deposit reserves your date and your crew. This isn't tacked on as an extra charge — it's already inside your final total. Until that deposit is in, the date is not really held, since we run only six trucks and the good Saturdays in spring and summer fill up quickly around Lapeer and Davison.
What does the price actually cover?
Your local move includes the truck, the crew, fuel, and the basics that keep a move moving: furniture blankets, shrink wrap, dollies, and standard disassembly and reassembly of beds and tables. Wrapping furniture is just part of the job for us. Book a full-pack and the boxes and materials come with it; on labor-only or self-pack jobs you bring your own boxes or grab them from us.
Can you pack for me too?
Yes. With our full-pack service the crew boxes the whole house, room by room, using our own paper, cartons, and blankets, from the kitchen cabinets to the basement shelving. A lot of customers have us pack the fragile things like dishes and framed art and handle the rest themselves. Tell us where you want the line drawn and we will price it either way.
For a long-distance haul, does one crew stay with it start to finish?
Yes. We hold US DOT and MC interstate authority and run out-of-state hauls on our own trucks with our own people. The crew that loads your home in Lapeer is the same crew that unloads it in Chicago, Tampa, or wherever you are headed. Your shipment is never transferred to another truck or another company at a terminal along the route.
Is my stuff covered while it's on your truck?
We are bonded and insured and carry up to $1,000,000 in cargo coverage per shipment. Every move includes released-value protection at $0.60 per pound per item at no extra charge. If you want fuller coverage, full-value protection is available for an added cost, and we will lay out both options in plain terms before you decide.
Are you licensed?
Yes. Pronto holds household-goods mover authority from the Michigan Public Service Commission for in-state moves and US DOT and MC authority for interstate work. We are bonded and insured. We are glad to share our license details if you want to verify them before booking.
Are you a broker or an actual moving company?
We are the moving company, plain and simple. Pronto owns six trucks and employs our own uniformed W-2 movers who show up at your door. We aren't a broker, a matching service, or a lead site auctioning your move off to the cheapest bidder. Book Pronto and you get Pronto, the same crew you spoke with on the phone.
Do you move in winter and snow?
We do, all season. Lapeer winters are part of the calendar, so the crew shows up with floor protection and salt awareness and works carefully on icy steps and driveways. We watch the forecast and time departures around bad weather where we can. A snowy week is no reason to put your move off if the date is set.
Can you handle a last-minute move or a change of date?
We try hard to. Being on time and being there when we said is the whole reason Travis started Pronto, so when you need a fast turnaround or a closing date slides, call us and we will work to fit it in. With six trucks we have some room to maneuver, but the sooner you reach out, the better your odds of landing the slot you want.
Do you move pianos and gun safes?
Yes. Piano moves start at $359 and are handled on proper piano boards by a crew that has moved hundreds of uprights, grands, and consoles. We also take gun safes, large appliances, pool tables, and oversized antiques. Mention the heavy or awkward pieces when you get your quote so we send the right crew and the right gear.
Can you hold my stuff in between closing dates?
Closings around here rarely line up to the day, so this comes up often. When there is a gap between your move-out and move-in, we can arrange short-term storage and coordinate delivery for when the new place is ready. Tell Kyle about the gap when you book and we will fold it into the plan and the quote.
Should I tip the crew?
We never expect tips and never fold them into the quote, though the crew is always grateful for one after a hard day's work. If you want to tip, cash handed to the crew chief at the end of the day is the easiest way, and it gets split with the team. The amount is entirely up to you.
How far ahead should I book?
If you're moving on a weekday, booking a week or two out is usually enough. For Saturdays and for the busy stretch from May through September, two to four weeks is the safer call, since that is when half of Lapeer County seems to be moving at once. If you are up against a tight deadline, call anyway. Fitting people in is part of the job.
